Position Description:

Two Harbors is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team.  In this position, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting assignments specifically focused on mortgage servicing rights and mortgage loan accounting.  A successful candidate must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a solid understanding of accounting principles and has 2 to 4 years of mortgage or financial servicing accounting experience.



  • Process transaction activity in Mortgage Servicing Rights accounting system including MSR purchases; purchase price adjustments, remittances etc.
  • Process transaction activity in mortgage loan accounting system including loan purchases, sales, monthly remittances, etc.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Obtain proficiency with PeopleSoft accounting software in order to facilitate month end close and periodic financial reporting and accounting processes.
  • Process sub-servicers billing statements, track monthly MSR and mortgage loan cash activity.
  • Assist in the accounting for other activities including valuation.
  • Assist in preparation of financial statement disclosures related to mortgage servicing rights and mortgage loans.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual audit requests and tax requests.
  • Achieve / maintain thorough knowledge of financial systems and processes, accounting policies, and internal controls.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and other job-related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 2 to 4 years accounting experience, preferably in mortgage or financial services.
  • Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting software packages.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, high energy team player.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
